(Mission Espagnole)

51 bis, rue de la Pompe, 75016 Paris
The Church, assigned to the Spanish community, is of neo-Gothic style. Its form is traditional: it is that of the Latin cross with nave, protruding transept and a flat apse. The choir, nave and transept are decorated with large paintings illustrating the themes of the New Testament or glorifying the saints of Spain. As always in religious buildings of Iberian culture, the statues are of absolute realism, with clothes with very elaborate colors. Also noteworthy are the large number of stained glass windows dedicated to the Virgin or saints of the Spanish Church.
C1 The instrument, built in 1897, is one of the last to leave Aristide Cavaillé‑Coll’s workshop. It is probably a series instrument, completed by Charles Mutin. The stoplist is identical to that of catalogue “Maison A. Cavaillé‑Coll” no. 21. One can note the absence of the Salicional and Octavin, and the substitution—common at this late period—of the Cor de Nuit for a Flûte traversière. The catalogue mentions the possibility of reducing the specification if needed; in that case the Salicional and Octavin can indeed be removed from the stoplist (source: Facebook Aristide Cavaillé‑Coll). Since its construction the organ has remained entirely authentic and was restored by Barbéris in 1982 and in 2021 by Gaël Coutellier from the Atelier de Facture d’Orgues de Bernard Dargassies. The stoplist has not been changed; only the pedalboard has been replaced.
